This course is designed to provide you with a comprehensive introduction to the key principles, standards, and best practices for ensuring digital accessibility. Whether you are new to the field or seeking to strengthen your knowledge, this course will equip you with essential tools and techniques to create inclusive digital experiences for all users.

What This Course Covers

Throughout the course, we will explore the fundamental concepts of accessibility, focusing on the practical steps to ensure digital content and technology are usable by people of all abilities. Key topics include:

  • An introduction to accessibility standards such as WCAG, WAI-ARIA, and best practices for web, mobile, and desktop environments.
  • An overview of assistive technologies and how users with disabilities interact with digital content.
  • Legal requirements, including the ADA, Section 508, and other relevant global accessibility laws.
  • Principles of Usability, User-Experience, and Universal Design.

At the end of this course, you should be well prepared to pass the CPACC certification test from the IAAP.

Course Structure

This course, like all of our courses, are structured so that the simplest concepts are presented first and get more complex as you progress through the course.

How Lessons Are Organized

Each lesson is provided with three components:

  1. Long-form written content in well-structured HTML
  2. Slides
  3. A narrated video, the content of which contains the aforementioned slides and narration closely adhering to the long-form content.

Getting the Most Out of the Course

We strongly recommend following each lesson in order. While the lessons in this course don't reference each other much, the content within each lesson will be easier to understand after having taken the prior lessons.

By the end of this course, you will have the foundational knowledge to understand compliance with global standards for creating an inclusive digital environment.
